A wonderful Autumn dessert! This is a tender, moist cake with a delicious Butterscotch Sauce. Add a dollop of CoolWhip Brand Whipped Topping for even more appeal!
Chunky Apple Cake Ingredients 1/2 c Butter, softened 2 c sugar 1/2 teaspoon, Vanilla Extract 2 eggs 2 c all-purpose flour 1 1/2teaspoon, ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon, ground nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon, salt 1/2 teaspoon, baking soda 6 c chopped, peeled tart apples
Butterscotch Sauce Ingredients 1/2 c packed brown sugar 1/4 c butter, cubed 1/2 c heavy whipping cream
Step by Step
Chunky Apple Cake Instructions Preheat oven to 350. Peel and chop apples. Grease baking dish 1) Cream butter, sugar and vanilla in large mixing bowl. 2) Add eggs, one at a time, beating well each time. 3) Combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, baking soda in medium mixing bowl. 4) Gradually add flour mixture to butter and egg mixture and mix well. (Batter will be stiff) 5) Stir in apples, mixing well. 6) Spread into baking dish 7) Bake at 350F for about 40-45 minutes, until top lightly brown and it spring back when touched. 8) Cool 30 minutes before serving
Butterscotch Sauce Instructions 1) In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and butter. 2) Cook over medium heat until butter is melted. 3) Gradually add cream. 4) Bring to a slow boil, over medium heat, stirring constantly. 5) Remove from heat and serve over cake slices. 6) Serve and Enjoy!
